How to Choose the Right Exam for You

How you decide which exam(s) will be ‘best’ for you depends on a variety of factors including your own strengths as a student, your ultimate career goals, how much risk you are willing to take on, and whether you want to take a more conservative (‘safety’) or ambitious approach.

The Most Important Factor: The College

The most important factor when determining your exam(s) should be the program/college to which you would like to gain admission:

  • If you are looking for the best possible college and an integrated five-year BBA + MBA degree from one of the top colleges in India, then IPMAT should definitely be your #1 choice. It is extremely competitive and therefore will yield excellent results.
  • If you are looking for a traditional BBA from a reputable private or affiliated university, the NMIMS NPAT, SET BBA, and CUET UG will give you solid brand recognition.
  • If you are set on a good, affordable college in Delhi NCR, IPU CET is your best bet.

Keeping Your Options Open

You might want to consider taking one of the more ambitious exams (IPMAT) along with two or more of the more ‘safe’ exams (NPAT, AIMA UGAT, or SET BBA) so you do not put all your eggs in one basket. Keeping your options open allows you to apply to multiple colleges without feeling pressured to choose a single one. This “Backup strategy” works very well for many candidates.

Academic Strengths

  • If you are a strong mathematics or quantitative skills and reasoning student, your best option is IPMAT or NPAT.
  • If your academic strength is in general parlance, English, and logical reasoning rather than highly quantitative forms, then SET BBA or UGAT will be a better fit.
  • If you wish to attend a college affiliated with a university (central or otherwise), then CUET UG is an excellent option, especially for students graduating from 10+2 in various educational streams.

Conclusion

Choosing to pursue a BBA is usually not a simple process; what examination you select can dictate where you will go later on and how well you do as a student. As 2025 approaches, the CUET UG, IPMAT, NMIMS NPAT, SET BBA, IPU CET, and AIMA UGAT exams will be the most reliable and widely accepted methods of gaining admission to BBA programs in India.

If you feel confident and driven, the best test option for you is the IPMAT, as this will allow you to compete with peers who share your ambition. If you want to have greater flexibility and reduced competition, then either NPAT, SET, CUET, IPU CET or UGAT would work well for you as they provide numerous ways to enter a BBA program. Remember, many students benefit from a combination of tests to obtain both types of benefits.
