So, you’ve overcome the first barrier – the IPMAT exam, and are now left thinking: “What’s next?”
The IPMAT selection process after that is as crucial as the exam itself. Whether you’ve submitted to IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak, or both, it helps to be aware of what comes next.
At AceIPM, we’ve guided thousands of students through the post-exam maze — and this blog breaks down the entire selection process after IPMAT 2025 in a simple, structured manner.

What After IPMAT: IIM Indore – Post-IPMAT Selection Process
1. Shortlisting for Personal Interview
Once the IPMAT Indore results are announced, the institute shortlists candidates as per their test score. There is no WAT (Written Ability Test).
Weightage for Shortlisting:
IPMAT score is only used
Shortlisted candidates are sent an email invite for the next round — Personal Interview (PI).
2. Personal Interview (PI) Round
The PI is conducted online or offline and usually takes place in June or early July. The panel assesses:
- Academic knowledge
- Communication skills
- Current affairs awareness
- Motivation for choosing IPM
- Personality traits
Tip: Be ready to discuss your academics, interests, goals, and general awareness confidently.
3. Final Selection
IIM Indore uses a Composite Score to prepare the final merit list.
Tentative Weightage:
- IPMAT Score: 65%
- PI Score: 35%
Formula:
Final Composite Score = (IPMAT Score × 0.65) + (PI Score × 0.35)
Other factors like gender diversity and academic background may be considered in tie-break situations.
What After IPMAT: IIM Rohtak – Post-IPMAT Selection Process
IIM Rohtak follows a slightly different selection approach, though it also consists of two stages: shortlisting and personal interview.
1. Shortlisting for PI
Shortlisting is done on the overall performance of the candidates in the aptitude test after the IPMAT Rohtak exam. This test comprises:
- Quantitative Aptitude
- Logical Reasoning
- Verbal Ability
Important Note: Rohtak’s test is marginally different from Indore’s. It has Logical Reasoning, and the pattern of the paper is better balanced.
Shortlisted candidates are called for a Personal Interview, generally within 7–10 days of result announcement.
2. Personal Interview (PI) Round
This round evaluates your:
- Communication skills
- Academic consistency
- Knowledge of current events
- Passion and motivation for IPM
Bonus Tip: IIM Rohtak values candidates who show clarity of thought and authenticity
3. Final Merit List
IIM Rohtak shortlists the final candidates on a balanced assessment.
Tentative Weightage (as per previous trends):
- IPMAT Score: 55%
- Personal Interview: 15%
- Past Academics (Class 10 & 12): 30%
This wider assessment renders Rohtak more inclusive of well-rounded students, so strong Class 10 and 12 marks can be your competitive advantage!
How to Prepare for the PI Round (For Both IIMs)
At AceIPM, we suggest a three-fold strategy:
Self-Reflection:
- Tell us about yourself
- Why IPM? Why IIM Indore/Rohtak?
Academics + Current Affairs:
- Revisit your Class 10–12 subjects
- Stay abreast of news (India’s economy, G20, technology, etc.)
Mock Interviews:
- Participate in AceIPM’s expert-guided PI Bootcamps and Mock Interviews
- Get individual feedback from mentors and IIM alumni
Which Institute Should You Choose – IIM Indore or IIM Rohtak?
| Factor | IIM Indore | IIM Rohtak |
