The IPMAT (Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test) is the entry point to a few of India’s most renowned management courses at schools like IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak. For test-takers, the exam day marks the culmination of months of practice, hard work, and determination.
At AceIPM, we realize the significance of each detail that leads to a successful exam experience. To assist candidates in avoiding last-minute stress and having a smooth entry and performance on the exam day, we have prepared a detailed set of exam day guidelines for both IPMAT Indore and IPMAT Rohtak.
Documents Required on Exam Day
Applicants should bring the following documents to the exam centre. These need to be kept in order and authenticated well in advance:
- Admit Card: A hard copy of the admit card downloaded from the official IPMAT website. Color printouts are advisable for clearer visibility.
- Valid Government-Issued Photo ID: Valid IDS that can be used are Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Driving License, or Voter ID. The name should match the name on the admit card exactly.
- Passport-Sized Photo: Certain centres could ask for a recent passport-sized photo (preferably one matching the image uploaded at the time of registration).
- Black Ballpoint Pen: This is for signing the attendance sheet and doing rough work, if needed.
Keep all the other articles in a clear folder or pouch so they can be easily screened, and there are no delays in checking at the entrance.
Reporting Time and Centre Entry Protocols
Applicants are usually instructed to report at the centre 60 minutes before the exam reporting time. The duration is adequate for identity verification, thermal scanning (wherever applicable), and frisking. Kindly note:
- Late entry under any condition is not allowed.
- Reporting and gate closing times are specified on the admit card, which must be followed strictly.
- Admission is done in batches to ensure order and safety procedures, particularly in busy centres.
If you don’t know where your exam centre is, it is best to go to the centre a day before the exam so as not to face last-minute problems with navigation.
Dress Code Guidelines:
To maintain uniformity and ensure a secure testing environment, candidates must follow a simple and modest dress code:
For Male Candidates:
- Shirt or T-shirt with trousers or jeans
- Footwear without thick soles or hidden compartments (slippers or sandals preferred)
- Avoid watches, metal accessories, caps, jackets, and layered clothing
For Female Candidates:
- Kurti or top with leggings, salwar, or trousers
- Simple flat footwear (avoid heels or closed boots)
- No jewellery, handbags, or elaborate hair accessories
- Minimal makeup and no metallic clips or pins
Candidates wearing religious attire such as turbans or hijabs are permitted but may be subject to additional respectful screening. The goal is to ensure transparency and prevent concealment of unauthorised materials.
Behaviour Inside the Examination Hall
Once inside the examination hall, candidates are expected to follow the following protocols:
- Do not attempt to access or use any electronic device, including mobile phones, smartwatches, or calculators.
- Follow all invigilator instructions carefully and avoid unnecessary conversations with other candidates.
- Utilise the rough sheet given by the exam centre for calculations. Any other paper is not permitted.
- Keep calm throughout the test. If any technical problem develops during computer-based testing, do not panic; raise your hand and alert the invigilator.Β
- Do not stand up unless told to leave your seat, even after finishing the test.
Violating rules or malpractice in any form, including impersonation, can result in outright disqualification.
Post Exam Guidelines:
Once the exam is completed:
- Exit the examination hall in an orderly manner as per the invigilator’s instructions.
- Ensure that you collect any personal belongings before leaving the premises.
- Avoid discussing answers or question paper content on social media immediately after the exam, as this could violate exam confidentiality agreements.
Final Recommendations:
The IPMAT examination is not a test of intelligence, but also preparation and calm. A well-timed exam day plan can genuinely impact your performance. At AceIPM, we recommend that all candidates consider the exam day as seriously as their preparation path. Check your checklist the evening before, keep your documents and clothes handy, and rest well. Have faith in your preparation, remain composed, and go into the exam with clarity and confidence.
